Who hasn’t heard of collagen?
These days everyone knows about or has heard of how good it is for your joints and your skin so here’s a little more information about it.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, making up about 30% of its mass. It shapes connective tissue and acts like a cement, holding together different structures in the body.
One of its roles is to provide skin with elasticity as well as prevent the appearance of wrinkles and the dreaded sagging.
As we get older less and less collagen is produced which is why our muscles and skin lose elasticity and flexibility, our bones lose density, our joints and arteries become weaker and our skin thinner.
Would you like to keep your hair, nails and skin beautiful and even prevent or help to treat illnesses such as osteoporosis? In which case, it’s a good idea to take collagen.
10 grams should be taken on a daily basis. The hydrolysed form is more easily absorbed and is best taken 30 minutes before breakfast. We recommend cycles of 3 months, that is to say, three months on and three months off.
There are various types:
• Type I which is found mostly in the skin, tendons and bones
• Type II mainly found in cartilage
Collagen is often made to include other elementssuch as vitamin E which acts together with vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in the process of forming collagen. Magnesium is also added to stimulate the function of cell metabolism that when used in conjunction with collagen it slows down the aging of cells.
